crosswalk movements
is a participatory dance performance and workshop in public space on designated crosswalks and in the surrounding area. It features five performers, invited guests, and anyone who happens to be there and wants to participate spontaneously. In public spaces, we usually move forward on two legs. But why? We could just as easily move to work by rolling, crawling, flowing, turning, or jumping.
This interdisciplinary project, which has already been presented in seven Viennese districts and in cooperation with EinTanzhaus in Mannheim, combines performance art with health, choreography, public safety, public space design, and cultural outreach, as well as reaching new audiences.
The performance invites participants to expand their familiar movement vocabulary, experiment with different forms of locomotion, and temporarily rethink public space, using crosswalks as an example..
